If your watch is waterproof, it is much easier to sustain. For example, you can easily clean it with a soft cloth and Timerub. This helps remove dirt and grease without damaging the watch. Make sure the crown and buttons are securely closed before you start.
What You Need to Know about water resitance watches:
A watch’s water resistance is indicated in meters (m), atmospheres (ATM), or bar, but this does not always mean it is suitable for swimming or diving. The rating indicates how well the watch withstands water pressure under ideal conditions.
- 3 ATM / 30 meters – Resistant to splashes and rain but not suitable for swimming.
- 5 ATM / 50 meters – Can handle light water activities, such as showering, but not swimming.
- 10 ATM / 100 meters – Suitable for swimming and snorkeling but not for deep diving.
- 20 ATM / 200 meters and above – Suitable for diving, depending on the specific model and sealing technology.

Water Resistance in Vintage Watches
Extra caution is needed with vintage watches. Older models may have lost their original water resistance due to wear on gaskets and seals. Even if a vintage watch was initially classified as water-resistant, it is best to avoid water exposure and consult a specialist for maintenance and possible resealing.
